Make Sure Your Great Taste Award Stars Shine Brightly With Good PR

Congratulations to all this year’s winners

August 2017

These awards are true testament to the wealth of amazing food and drink products out there now and this prestigious medal is valued hugely by consumers. This year there was a total of 12,366 products entered and 35% were awarded either 1, 2 or 3 stars, with a final 50 being entered into the Golden Fork awards – and the competition is growing every year.

We all love to see a Great Taste Star roundel on the front of a food or drink product, it speaks ‘quality’, says ‘trust’, and most importantly, promises ‘great taste’. So if your products are among the cosmos of winners, here are a few important points to ensure that your stars shine as brightly as possible.

Be Social…

Blow your own trumpet via your social media channels and hero your star products. It’s great to link to online shops where the product can be bought, or a list of great stockists. Make sure your star logo is visible alongside your product and be clear about its winning credentials. People love to see images of the producers too, especially if there is a little lightheartedness in the setting. Make sure you use the Guild of Fine Food hashtag #GreatTasteAwards and tag them too @guildoffinefood

Newsletter …

Share your exciting news with your email database, consumers and trade. Use the opportunity to approach new buyers and potential new stockists. Create a great visual and sing out the story behind the brand and the product. Make sure you link to your website and mention your full range of products. This is a chance to boast about the product plus points and let people know why you shine out from the cluster!

Testimonials …

If you’ve had great feedback from the judges, or any of your loyal fans, then let people know by quoting them. They are the best exponents of your product and are effectively your best brand ambassadors.

Website …

Make sure your website is up-to-date and has a prominent news item sharing your fortune. Set up a competition for the chance to win some of your products or set up a special offer so that people can buy them to try. Anything with great taste needs to be sampled, so grow your fan base by encouraging trial. Also, make sure that all the product details are accurate with all your latest award winning news too.

Press Release …

Once you have got some great product and producer photography, plus your Great Taste star logo, write a short press release to circulate to all your relevant trade and consumer press, both online and print. Try and include a quick summary of the main headline awards, what shines out about your products, the history and founding story behind your brand and where it is available to buy.

Product Logo …

Make sure you add the award logo to your product label and to any promotional materials you have. Remember, this logo speaks volumes, shines out from the crowd and wins ‘mouths’, so go all out to make sure you are telling all the people who need to be in the know.
